I manage several websites that use the 'expose' photo gallery. Expose uses flash to display photos in the photo galleries. When you go to one of these web sites and click on the photo gallery link, the photos are not displayed, the page shows the gallery buttons but no photos. Using Internet Explorer or Chrome browsers, the photo galleries work fine. Here are 3 web sites to view; www.wishardgallery.com - click on photo gallery www.applemanart.com - click on art gallery www.jewelimages.com - click on any of the gallery links on the left menu

Do the same with IE or Chrome to see the photos displayed.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Some galleries are displayed via JavaScript, so if they aren't working the make sure that you aren't blocking JavaScript.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

I did have a java plugin that needed updating, but it did not fix the problem. Can you view the photo galleries I mentioned using your firefox browser?

Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the menu bar is hidden.

You can access the "Page Info" window via the Tools menu and via the right-click context menu in the browser window and via the Site Identity Button on the location bar.

I have tried all the suggestions, nothing works. Did I mention that this is happening to other machines, not just mine. Only PC's using Firefox as the browser , or MAC's using Safari as the browser. If I/they use IE or Google Chrome, the photo galleries work/display just fine.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

If the Flash plugin isn't working then you need to check for issues with that plugin.

See:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Yes, I have checked the plugin issues. Why is it that both Firefox 17.0 browser for PC's and Safari for MAC's have the same problem. Resetting firefox will not fix Safari, it is not the RealPlayer problem as mentioned in the plugin bugs. Downgrading my version of Firefox does not help the MAC users either. How do you get an earlier flash plugin version for both Firefox and Safari?

None of the above suggestions has found or solved the problem. In summary, multiple web sites using a flash image gallery will not display the photos when a user uses Firefox or a MAC user uses Safari as the browser. This happens on many different PC's and Mac's, it is not a single machine issue. I disabled the "Shockwave Flash 11.5.502.146" plugin and I cannot display anything because my photo gallery says the plugin has been disabled. When I enabled the plugin, it displayed a few photos then went back to not displaying any photos. I got the message "Could not load image for undefined" Any suggestions?

I am not talking about the slide show in the banner area at the top of the web pages. That is not the flash photo gallery. Click on one of the photo gallery links to see the images in the photo gallery. See if the images in the albums show up in the image strip or slide show. Thank you.

I downgraded flash from 11.5.502.146 to flash 10.3 and now all photo galleries are displayed as they should. I am also running on Windows 7 64 bit. Why does the newer flash plugin not display the photo galleries. I cannot tell users who want to see the photo galleries to downgrade flash. I can tell them to use IE or Chrome, but that does not fix the problem with FIrefox and Flash. Any ideas? Again, one web site to try is www.jewelimages.com click on a photo gallery on the left, then pick a photo album and see if the images display for you. Thanks

I also have this same problem....

I have tried a few solutions such as found here: [http://www.cmsbloke.com/problem-with-.../problem-with-expose-image-gallery/] and here

Bu had no luck with either!. Please post if you find a solution!

On further testing it only seems to be affecting Safari and Firefox on the mac. Both firefox and IE seem ok and chrome is fine on both platforms.

Im pretty sure its the flash player update that has caused the issue...
