In the bar at the top if I try a google search, it defaults to the Spanish google site. This does not happen with IE. My IP address places me in the correct part of the UK

I am in the UK with no problems, although i changed the serach bar option adding additional Search engines.

As a first step select Google.com as the Search bar option, or Google.uk.co

One likely explanation is that there has been a change with Firefox 22edit Fx23 so most users will not yet have seen this change which I find slightly irritating. The search used by all the different methods now is the same as the search used by the search bar. If you or some other software has changed the search used by the search bar to Google Spanish then the location bar also uses Google Spanish.

You may also need to check your settings on the Google site &/or clear cookies on that site

Also I note you have a Google update plugin, and I am no tsure what that may be doing.

hello john99, the search unification will land in firefox 23 - so it will likely not play a part here.

maybe installing the SearchReset extension could also address the problem.

Thanks quite right

I tend to spend most of my time on the Aurora channel of Firefox and sometimes forget when changes actually occurred or will occur for those on the Release channel.

Guess problem more likely to be a search hijack then

and search reset add-on is recommended to help with that problem. (Or interference by a service provider to improve the search)

Thanks all - removing the google.es cookie seems to have resolved the issue.
