My address bar performs a search no matter what I enter. If I type a URL or about:config, I receive search results for what I typed, not the actual page.
Some websites I frequent can only be accessed by entering the URL directly into the address bar. I can no longer access these sites, as in the last week or so the behavior of my address bar has changed such that it will only perform a search. I can change the search engine, but I cannot make the address bar take me directly to a URL.

Make sure that you use the location bar and aren't using the search bar.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
- View > Toolbars
- Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Customize to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
- if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup
I have this too. FIREFOX 25.0.1
PASTE works just fine, so it seems to be about speed of input.
at times FIREFOX (when I type fast enough) will eat some of the characters I type into the ADDRESS BAR. When OI try and get around all of this by typing very fast (PASTE WORKS - which is an equivalent) the ADDRESS BAR will have characters that never show up.
It is not the computer, the keyboard or any other piece of software - ONLY the FIREFOX address bar
I suspect that an update screwed things up. It was fine last month.
There have been no software installs of any sort on our end of things. No new add-ons or any other software installs (that could have added some add-on or change without asking)
