The reason why i couldnt download and pin the books from kindle cloud reader was because i was in-always use private browsing mode(privacy setting). Once i unchecked the box i was able to view the books offline.

Hi offislander, Thank you for your question. The Kindle cloud reader may be better in the new version of Firefox 30. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custome.../display.html?nodeId=201255020 says to click on the globe in the url bar. If allowing offline storage for one site does not work you can manage offline storage. In about:config search for offline. Make sure browser.cache.offline.enable is set to true. However by default this should be true. Security permissions do override this if the site has different preference afaik.

Check that out and post back with the results please!

Thank you guig2 for your prompt reply. Per your instructions tried again with the new version of firefox(30) but the situation remains unchanged.Followed up with the config part and confirm that it is set to true.

one thing i noticed after unchecking the default setting for offline storage in cloud it wouldnt show up as changed when I checked after refreshing page. I changed a setting for another selection and saw that it was acknowledged as changed.

Dont know what to do next. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, Try this: [about:cache] and see if there is an offline line enabled. If it is it should allow you to download the book locally. Once enabled click on the "Download" tab It will tell you to right click and download and pin the book.

When you are making changes in about:config some preferences need a Firefox restart to "register" the change, while other changes take effect immediately.

guigs2/the-edmeister,

Thanks for the help but after trying all these suggestions it seems for the moment I must content myself with viewing these books on-line. A minor inconvenience.

Hi offislander,

Sorry to bother you after your Firefox problem has been resolved, but I am wondering if you would be able to help us.

Could you first of all search on the computer for all copies of the following files.

  1. nptnt2.dll
  2. libinject2.dll,
  3. libredir2.dll

The first file does appear to have been on your computer. Possibly you will also have the other two. Search Tips

guigs2 from the Firefox HelpDesk will probably be following up on this post, but being paid staff is only available in working hours.

For now please try to find the files but do not take any other action, as you appear to have the file disabled, and we an not be certain yet that it is a bad copy.

Perhaps you could post back to say whether you are able to search for these files and whether or not you have found them.

Thanks in advance, John

Background Information

You seem to have a file installed that apparently is malware and Firefox engineers are trying to get hold of a copy of the file. They can study it to confirm it is bad, then pass the information on to the sites that detect malware.

Briefly you kindly provided troubleshooting information you posted this question

We are very interested in the file nptn2.dll some of those are apparently bad files that cause problems.

There is more information in a contributors thread started by staff member Cheng Wang.

Hello John99,

Not a problem at all when you're the one helping me out! I've followed the above instructions on how to locate these 3 files but unfortunately the searches yielded no contents.

I currently have no offline storage data on file and am still unable to view kindle cloud reader offline. I'm still perplexed by this situation as its never happened before with other computers and it seems such a trivial problem to remain unsolved.

What I need to do is get better protection for my laptop than what I currently have. If you guys have any suggestions and hopefully they're free... I'm on a limited budget...Thank you all!

OK thanks for looking.

Sorry protection for a laptop is not really our speciality.
