The choice to have firefox save web passwords is grayed out so I can't use it. How do I activate it?

I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 30. For years I have used the "saved passwords" function. I would like to check the box, but it is inactive and gray.

hello, firefox won't save your passwords when you've set it up to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).

On Mac this would be:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
