When I try to download PDF files to Firefox I get repeated 'new tab' windows appear

When I choose to open a PDF document with firefox, I press ok and then continual 'new tab' windows scroll through and there is no way of stopping them except by clicking on 'close all tabs'. Obviously I can't open any PDF documents. Maybe my settings are wrong but I am a complete novice with computers.

The most common reason for this is, when the dialog to Open/Save/Cancel a download appeared, you selected to have Firefox handle the download itself. Unfortunately, this can create an infinite loop. To clear that problem setting, please see the steps in this article: Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link.

Does that fix it?
