I upgraded firefox and rebooted my computer and since I have the following problem;

Firefox doesn't show the 'save this password?' option

I login a site like facebook, hotmail, tumblr etc and clic 'remember me' or 'stay login' and it doesn't work, I have to sign in again every time

Firefox doesn't remember my history

Firefox doesn't give site suggestion when type a site in the toolbar.

What I already did: I started firefox with addons disabled and tried to change my settings, it didn't worked.

I selected the 'remember password' option in the security settings. I checked in the 'saved passwords' folder and I can see the passwords I saved.

In the 'privacy/history' settings I selected 'use custom settings for history' 'remember my browsing and download history' 'remember search and form history' and 'accept cookies from sites' However on the 'accept third-party cookies' I selected the 'from visited' option since I cannot select the 'always' option (I tried mulptiple times and it doesn't remember the setting.

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
