I only use Thunderbird for my RSS feeds. When I go to my WIRED RSS, some msgs automatically open a web page on my external browser to a Twitter page. I do not want this to happen. I cannot find a way to disable this. Is that possible? Thanks.  :)

It's interesting you only use Tb for feeds; a few years ago it was unusable as a feed reader (after a multiyear renovation, though not rewrite/rearchitect, it's finally at a 1.0 level ;))
