I have desktop windows7, laptop windows 7 and tablet windows 8.1. I installed later 2 last spring. At that time somehow, I managed to sync all 3 devices. (So, all had same bookmarks) Now sync works both windows 7 devices very well, but tablet windows 8.1 never sync anymore. Eventually bookmarks are rather different from other 2 devices. I tried to fix it, uninstalled / reinstalled firefox on tablet windows8.1, still it's not working. All 3 device have latest 37.0.1. Is there any way to sync all 3 devices?

Hi Mark, Thank you for your reply. But I read this article before, and my all Firefoxes are all up-to-date. Therefore I don't understand what goes wrong...

It's possible your sync data is corrupt on one of the three devices. Uninstalling / Reinstalling Firefox won't reset this data. But doing a Firefox Refresh will.

Try doing a refresh and then sync on each device which does not appear to be syncing properly.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Try to delete the Weave folder and the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed and delete the prefs.js files to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file to reinitialize the profile.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Thank you, both. Today I have tried both methods. Unfortunately, no sign of solution. My tablet windows 8.1 stubbornly shows only it own bookmarks. No way...

You can check the about:sync-log page via the location/address bar to see if there are error logs available.

You can upload the most recent log to this website if the log is too big to put in a reply.

You can temporarily set the services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess pref to true on the about:config page to also get a log of a successful Sync. Do not forget to reset the services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess pref to false after you have finished testing Sync.

Do you see any log files listed if you open the about:sync-log page via the location/address bar?

You can open about: pages via the location/address bar. about: is a protocol used to access special built-in pages.
