when I open a particular web site I get a cached version that is older than the recently modified version. Internet explorer opens the new version. Why?

The web site I am opening has been recently updated. Firefox opens an older version. Internet explorer opens the updated version and so does the AOL browser. If I remove the cache by clearing recent history for "today" it fixes the problem until the web site is updated again. This is a very recent problem.
