My wife has a number of email accounts on Thunderbird but can no longer see one of them even though it is still listed in Account Settings.

One of my wife's email accounts has disappeared from the Thunderbird main pane along with it's associated folders. It still appears in Account Settings though! Can I retrieve it? It is a BT POP3 account, all the others still showing are IMAP accounts if that makes any difference.

First make sure you are actually viewing all the folders:

View > Folders > All or Menu icon > Folders > All

If this does not work try this:

Make hidden files and folders visible:

In Thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'show Folder' button
  • a new window opens showing your Profile folder
  • Close / Exit Thunderbird now - this is important.
  • Look for and delete this file: foldertree.json
  • Close window - top right X
  • Restart Thunderbird.
