Every time my computer "wakes up", I get a Firefox Sync error

Hi.

I keep Firefox (v. 38.0.5 with Windows 8.1 Pro) always open. When I wake up my computer from sleep, I get the Firefox Sync error "failed to connect to the server".

If I force it to sync, it doesn't find any error, so I believe Firefox is trying to sync before my internet connection gets back. That would not be a problem if this error message bar disappeared automatically - but no, I have to click the tiny X button to close it.

Is there any way to (any of the below would be fine): - disable this message - set it to only show up after a few tries - set it to only check after 1 minute after my computer wakes up

I put my computer to sleep several times per day, so this is becoming annoying.

Thanks!

I understand that sync gives an error that there is a failure to connect when your computer comes out of sleep. Since in sleep it prevents any connections this might explain. I will ask in #sync

Hi.

What do you mean by "I will ask in #sync"?

Thanks.

HI felininho, My apologies for better context: there is an irc server where Mozilla employees and community members chat everyday. The #sync is the name of the channel on that sever. https://wiki.mozilla.org/IRC

They also did not get back to me with an answer as this happens to me as well. Is it possible to collect the logs from sync in order to add them to a new bug:

  • How do I turn on sync logs:
  1. Open about:config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
  2. Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
  3. Logs and error messages will be located here

Please also use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharring any errors that relate to this issue.

Thank you.

Thank you for your help and for reporting the issue at #sync.

The services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks has the value "debug". That's the same as turning it on?

I have turned on the other entry, logOnSuccess, and will submit the log at pastebin.mozilla.org.

Hi felininho, I believe so, yes. However when you submit it to pastebin, there will be a custom url and you can set an expiration date. May I please request that the pastebin url be posted back :-)
