Running pentium 4 3.6 with 2gig memory and XP Professional. The system just updated to 38.1. I see the screen informing me of the changes that come with v38.1 but the minute I click on any area of the thunderbird screen the pc locks up. I can't even close it down.

There is not much else I can say. I am running an older version of Thurderbird, 17.0.8. If I let the system update to the lastest version or if I update to the latest version, the system locks up the instant I click on any area of the opened Thunderbird program.

I am having the same problem wtih Firefox. I am running V31. If I run 32 or any higher version, the instant I click on the browser, it locks up. I am running XP Pro.

This will be a few steps, so bear with me. 1. Using version 17, remove any addons you have installed at Tools | addons | extensions 2. Download Thunderbird 38 from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and install. 3. start thunderbird 38 in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode 4. visit Tools | options | advanced | general and disable hardware acceleration 5. restart Thunderbrd

Is it better?
