I would love to be able to remove the right click option of open in new window - -I would rather open in new tab - opening up in new window is basically opening up a new instance of Firefox - that can deplete system resources if, my primary instance is using alot of resources like videos & such & I always try to make sure when i need a new tab to choose open in new tab rather than open in new Windows, that will double the amount of resources Firefox uses --- there is really no need to open in a new complete window instance but, i occaisionally do it when I am working too fast -- sometime when working with just one instance of Firefox depending on the work i am redering can freeze up my system & some cases have to to a hard reboot of computer - I personally would like to be able to remove the right clight option of being able to open in a whole new window & rather only use open in new tab

This extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/s3menu-wizard/ - has features that allow you to hide most menu items.

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

#context-openlink { display:none!important; }

The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
  • Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
  • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window
  • Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
  • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.
    Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
