Why Firfox made it worse with the upgrade? In the past, the Menu toolbar was on by default. Now I have to go turn it on every time. Whats worse is that it doesnt STAY on for future windows I open. How do I get it to STAY on?

It sounds like the file that controls the layout of your browser is corrupt or damaged. Please try to following to create a new one:

  1. Close all Firefox windows
  2. Open your profile folder, using the steps in this article to locate it
  3. Open the folder with .default in the title
  4. Rename to the xulstore.json file to xulstorebackup.json
  5. Open Firefox

Note: This will create a new file for your Firefox layout. As a result, your previous layout will be restored to the default.

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

Try to click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette to restore the default toolbar setup.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
