I set up local folders on thunderbird and imported all my old emails which had been stored in folders on Windows Live Mail. I intend to delete WLM but want to be sure that all the old emails are backed up on my external hard drive. How do I do this?

Hi crb250.

All Thunderbird messages and settings are stored in its profile by default. So if you want to backup your messages, you can simply backup the whole Thunderbird profile as described here.
