Hello.

I am using Windows XP and Firefox V.43.0.4

Firefox was used to check for the latest version of Java. A newer version was found so Java was updated. The older version was deleted automatically without any issue and was also removed from Add/Remove Programs.

However, when I went back to into Java to check for the latest version, using Firefox, it states 'Unable To Begin UnInstall Process: Out Of Date Java Versions Were Not Uninstalled'-Is this a glitch since the older Java version was deleted during the new version update process?

Java was checked and there was an older version installed so it was updated to Version 8 Update 71 and the older version was uninstalled automatically from Add/Remove Programs.

I checked again for the latest Java update but it stated 'Unable To Begin UnInstall Process: Out Of Date Java Versions Were Not Uninstalled.'

Since the older Java version was uninstalled automatically after Version 8 Update 71 was installed, is this an error message?

Let's check your system.

Type about:plugins<enter> in the address bar. Now search for the plugin.

Example; Adobe Acrobat File: nppdf32.dll,nppdf32.dll Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll,C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll Version: 11.0.9.29 State: Enabled Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9

This will show you the path to that program. Copy the Path Only. Also note the name of the file, and remember it. Now Close Firefox. Open your file browser and paste the path in the address bar. Find the file, and delete it. Now you can restart Firefox. Warning ! Remember to delete the right program.

To be safe, remove all of them. Then install the current.

Try to download the full offline Java installer and uninstall the current Java version via the Windows Control Panel before installing the new version.

You can find the latest 32 bit Java versions on the Oracle website.

I updated to Java Version 8 Update 71through the Java website and the older version was uninstalled automatically afterwards. V 8 Update 71 is the only Java Version displayed under Add/Remove Programs.

I went back to the Java website and checked again for the latest Java update but it stated 'Unable To Begin UnInstall Process: Out Of Date Java Versions Were Not Uninstalled.'

I went into the 'Java Control Panel' and checked for updates and it stated that I have the latest version.

I think there is a glitch when checking for updates within Firefox from the Java website.

I do not 'get it'

When I go into 'Start, Programs, Java, Check For Updates,' it states that I have the latest version.

I was able to install Java Version 8 Update 71 through Java's website but cannot check and update it through Java's website after it has been installed.

Is it because I am using Windows XP?
