How to reduce the size of multiple images to insert in the body of an email?

more options

Hi, in Outlook, I could select multiple photos and add them to the body of the email. They automatically reduced in size, and I could also reduce them further by dragging the corner.

I cannot do this in Thunderbird. I have to add one at a time, then work out the sizing myself which I have no idea of, and it still seems to send the photo as the original size. My photos are average 10MB, not what I want to send to friends.

I have worked out how to add and reduce multiple photos as attachments, only by selecting the photos and right clicking "send to email recipient", then reducing the size, but then I can't add files from different folders. Why can't it be done in the body of the email, like other programs?

First of all, I'm wondering why you aren't using a photo sharing site rather than all this faffing about in a medium that isn't really suited to large blocks of data. Or you could put your pictures on Dropbox and then add the links to your email message.

Did "dragging the corner" actually reduce the size of the attached file, or just resize the display?

Look for the auto resize image addon. It can automatically resize all images, attached and embeded, and in multiple image types; jpeg, png, gif etc.

Shrunked is a simpler alternative addon, easier to use but less powerful.

Well firstly, thank you muchly, I didn't realise all it would take is an add-on, have never dealt with one for an email program before.

Secondly, so you don't need to wonder anymore, I don't use drop box, and I jumped on here because it was a Thunderbird email problem, and this is where the Help link brought me.

Dragging the corner just resized the display.

Got the answer I wanted, all in short time, so thanks again, and cheers mate!
