New version saving downloads to temp instead of designated download folder. Why?
I have latest Firefox version. Since this was installed downloads do not save to designated folder as they used to. I have not installed anything new on my computer. The only thing that changed is the new Firefox version. They now save to a %temp% folder. This is annoying because I then have to find and re-save it to download folder. I have changed the designated folder in Firefox options a couple of times and it does save the changes in Firefox options but it does not change where the file is saved. If there is a list of incompatible programs that may be running it would be good to know what they are. Using Win10, with Windows Defender on Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook.

Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Please check that the proper folder is selected.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
