Hi,

For some reason when mozilla updates I always lose my bookmarks. Lucky I have saved my bookmarks to my time machine external hard drive, but I am having a difficult time restoring mozilla bookmarks. I've had this problem in the past & this great apple representative solved my problem, but now I can't recall what he did. I've spent hours researching trying to figure this out. Can someone please help me? On how to restore my mozilla bookmarks from my time machine external hard drive.

I know you're suppose to go to application support then look for the firefox or mozilla file, but on my computer it's hidden. I usually have to hold the option key on my macbook outside of my external hard drive & click on library/application support/Firefox. Now that my bookmarks for mozilla is saved in my time machine external hard drive, how do I hold the option key there to get to my firefox file??

Thanks, Barry

You should at least have compressed .jsonlz4 backups of the bookmarks in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Did you check if you can restore the bookmarks?

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup > Restore

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Note that "~/Library" on Mac is a hidden folder.

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/
