I tried several times to set up my default search engine as google- I really don't like yahoo!, but it doesn't take the change. There isn't even an active button at the end of the page

I want to set google as default, and keep bing as an alternative. that's it

Thanks

There is no OK button on the about:preferences pages. Changes are applied immediately.

Do you have an extension like these installed:

  • SafeSearch Incognito
  • SearchAssist Incognito

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
