New version 57 is sooo slow. I tried the suggestions on the fix slowness webpage, but nothing worked. How do I go back to the older, quicker version?

There is about a 20-60 second delay between every word I type in the search field. It also takes several minutes to open web pages. I followed directions provided on the support page labeled "Fix Slowness, crashing, error messages and other problems", but none of those things worked to fix the slowness problem.

hi bridgebuilder, could you capture and share a performance profile while the problem is occurring like it's described at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Reporting_a_Performance_Problem (you can leave out steps 1-3 about installing the latest nightly).

maybe this can give us some clues what is going wrong. thank you!

one more thing that i have just noticed when looking at your system details - can you please test if the following steps can fix the performance issue you're seeing in firefox 57?: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named accessibility.force_disabled. double-click it, change its value to 1 and restart firefox once.

then please let us know how this goes?

My computer was a bit slow but after I installed the latest update it has been terrible. It freezes up on me after only a few minutes after I reboot. I have tried to reset it to the older version with no luck. I am stuck on a new completely unusable "faster system" The REFRESH page I am taken to freezes up and Mozilla Firefox is my browser, as it says it won't work if it isn't. I am getting so frustrated that I am contemplating changing to another broser so I can use my computer without it locking up on me.

Sorry I am new here and thought this was to support staff not to answer you problem.
