I used to be able to click on a URL and right click for adding a shortcut to my desktop. Now I get all the associated folders for the website, none of which open the URL. What has happened to Firefox to stop this utility?

Load the webpage. Once done, hold down the left button on the icon in the address box and move it to an empty area on your desktop. Or any folder or the Bookmarks Toolbar.
