I notice this strange behaviour using my favourite WEB browser: Firefox. Using firefox plug-in to preview into browser a PDF document I notice some character set mismatch happend.

For character set mismatch I mean: page layout perfectly shown but text shown using not appropriate chars. Due to this behaviour it is not possible to understand content of page. This strange behaviour do not effect all PDF pages, but only some of them.

From the pdf plug-in I tried to download the PDF file and into pop-up window I choise to open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Into Adobe Acrobat Reader DC all PDF pages are perfectly shown.

I think some "unusual" PDF setting is not perfectly interpreted by pdf plug-in

I will attach: 1) a PDF page as shown into Firefox PDF plugin 2) the same page as shown into Internet Explore PDF pluin or Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

    • - Upload images hangs, so no image is available here.

The problem is worked around setting into Firefox a different method to handle PDF file, but it is possible such information can be usefull to better design Firefox PDF plugin.

So #1 is that plugin the built in firefox plugin or you downloaded that plugin?

  1. 2 if I recall Reader if installed should work for both or did you change something to prevent it from working in firefox?

@WestEnd:

  1. 1: First image (with confused charset) is what firefox built in plugin shows for that PDF.

If you have somewhere an apache server (HTML server or equivalent) I could give you the PDF document in order to reproduce the same behaviour.

Attached you can check my firefox config for PDF.

No don't have that open for me here. But I see on the screen shot it does give you the Reader option? Does that not work?

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC option works fine: instead to open PDF into the browser, a dedicated Abobe Reader window will be opened.

Using that option (external reader) all pages of PDF are perfectly reproduced.

I think this behavior analisys should be competence of develepment area in Firefox or Adobe, depending on plug-in responsibility.

Does this behavior happens on other computers with the same installs if it didn't have a firefox pdf plugin?

"This behaviour" happens, with that PDF, only when "preview in browser" is set in Firefox.

I was able to test it on different PC using Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge. Also Firefox - PDF "preview in browser", on a OSx (iMac) system reproduce "this behaviour". And it is the same using Tor Browser that is a specific configuration of Firefox, I guess.

Hope this answer your question.
