I'm trying to set up Thunderbird on my laptop in order for it to access my Yahoo mail account and it keeps rejecting my correct user name and password. I've seen archived threads for Gmail regarding this problem but no current threads for Yahoo. My operating system is Linux Manjaro.

The issues for Yahoo are legion. Their DNS is incorrectly configured and their server software buggy.

For a start are you using oauth authentication. It saves a load of issues. If you are are cookies enabled in Thunderbird? It is required for oauth and it is something I can see some Linux maintainer disabling to protect their users privacy. (linux distributions rarely use the released Thunderbird build or install files. They make their own and make their own customizations which sometime cause all sorts of problems.)
