Setting Firefox to run as admin through compatibility settings causes what seems like infinite prompts to run as admin, and basically never opens. The only solution I have to being able to open Firefox as admin is to do it manually, whereas before I haven't had this problem to the same degree. Occasionally before this infinite series of prompts, it would sometimes prompt me 3 times before opening Firefox as admin while having "Run as Admin" enabled under compatibility settings.

Not sure why this is happening, or why it's getting worse, reinstalling did not fix this issue either. So whatever is happening, I thought I'd just report it here to see if anyone else is experiencing something similar to this.

What reasons do you have to run Firefox as administrator?

It is not safe to run a browser as administrator as that gives full permission to access the file system.

In the past I've run into issues where Firefox wouldn't launch without admin, and other reasons I can't remember now. I've just always done it since then, but I mean if I don't need to now for any reason I just won't, I've just always been under the assumption that it was normal to do.

Thanks for the reply.

I would suggest that there are underlying OS issues which need to be rectified, given that Firefox wasn't launching without admin permissions (and other reasons), and that you now have an infinite loop for Run As admin.

I have the same issue since the last update. I am using win7. There were any problems until the last FF update... any ideas?

I need to run FF with admin rights e.g. for saving downloads on my main hard drive and not on the hard drive where the OS is running from. Moreover some programms I use need FF with admin rights to run properly.

I have this same issue, reason I run admin is it is required to access certain features on the browser that I use. This only started happening since 72.0.1 update. Prior I had no issues with it running in Administrator mode.

Win 10 - nothing changed between the time of update of Firefox and my system.
