All my passwords are gone. When I tried to log into a site, I get a Firefox message, saying to save and auto fill passwords, you must have a device pass code. I am not redirected anywhere, and have no idea where to find a device pass code. I’m devastated as all my passwords were saved here. How can I get them back?

Hi Leslie, is this problem in Firefox on your iPhone/iPad ("Firefox for iOS") or on a desktop/laptop system (Mac, Windows, Linux)?

On a mobile device, your pass code typically would be a PIN you use to unlock your device. (I don't know how that works with face or fingerprint.) On a desktop/laptop system, Firefox would usually refer to a Primary password, but if could also refer to your system password if someone set it up that way.

By the way, since I don't trust websites as much as built-in screens:

If you go to the main menu and then Passwords (or into Settings, if it's in there), can you see any saved logins there?

Do you still see the logins in the Password Manager ? See also:

If you still have the logins and you are on a desktop device then you can possibly set the Primary Password and enter this password instead of the device password.

The problem is on my mobile phone - I did check my laptop and any passwords that were current at the time of my last syncing of the two are still there. I don’t know if syncing them again will solve the problem… I can’t think of anything I did (besides clearing my cache) that might have deleted the passwords. I have cleared the cache dozens of times without affecting my saved passwords.

Hi Leslie, I'll tag this post to be moved over to Firefox for iOS.

Meanwhile, the support article "Manage saved passwords in Firefox for iOS" doesn't mention needing a pass code, so I'm not sure how that got in there, unless you are using a separate password app that gets activated when you tap a login field in Firefox. ??

Thanks, jscher, for your help - I didn’t think to make sure my question was posted to the right category! And, no, I don’t have an app to manage my passwords. This was just so random - it came out of nowhere and I hadn’t done anything new with my phone settings… which also made me think I have been hacked if that is the case it’s probably better to start from scratch with all my passwords… thanks again. If you have any other suggestions I’d be happy to take them.
