Didn't there used to be a second search bar so you wouldn't have to retype your search terms?

In older versions of Firefox, wasn't there a smaller second search bar to the right of the main search bar where you could enter your search terms and not lose them when the search results came up? I hate having to retype my search terms after getting my results.

You can add the dedicated search bar to the toolbar in Customize mode.
