Adobe Flash Player was automatically updated to version 10.1.53.64. However, in Mozilla Firefox, when I go to Tools -> Add-ons, Adobe Flash player is not listed. Instead, it lists "Shockwave Flash 10.1.53.64" with the subheading "Shockwave Flash 10.1.r53". Note that it's listing both the old and new version numbers of the Flash Player, and it's calling it "Shockwave Flash". The list also includes something called "Shockwave for Director 11.5.1.601 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5"

Adobe's website at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/139/tn_13971.html clearly says that Shockwave and Flash are two different things.

The Windows add/remove list shows "Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin" (Doesn't distinguish between 10.0 and 10.1) and "Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5".

Netscape is not installed, but there are a few remnant files from it.

Thus, there are contradictions among Firefox Add-ons list, Adobe version number check, and Windows Add/Remove Programs list. How Can I resolve these to be sure I'm running the correct version of the intended product?

Looks fine here. Adobe may have changed the name of the plugin. I also see this on Linux on the about:plugins page: Shockwave Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

You can visit the Adobe Flash Test page at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
