how to change the default search engine in the firefox 4 start page?
I upgraded to firefox 4 on my windows 7 computer and the home page was automatically set to the firefox 4 about:home start page. The search engine is automatically set to avg secure search. I want to set it to google(like the old home page) but I dont see an option to change it. I am aware I could just find the url for the old start page and use that but it would be nice to use the new one. anyone know how to change it?

There's a lot easier way to set Firefox to its default preferences, by using the Firefox SafeMode and selecting Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults

hicola...until I saw your post...I had spent literally hours trawling through my PC ripping out anything that had hooks into AVG... Following your suggestion I found some strange config lines with no obvious connection to AVG ...& once I reset them to default...it seems I've killed the beast.
10 demerit points to Mozilla/Firefox for supporting this invasive rubbish...why they should set out to annoy 1000's of Firefox users..beats me....just would you set out to annoy users globally.
Thanks a lot.
