I downloaded the the latest version 4 but the sync symbol was not in the browser

I tried the tools menu but now the option is to set up sync

I can't use sync settings from laptop because I updated this as well and the same thing has happened.

The option is to log into account but I've forgotten account name (is a name or email address?). I've used the name I think it's under but I've also forgotten which email address I used so I'm stuck in a loop.

Why can't I just have my old settings back?

The Sync button is in the Customize Palette and needs to be moved to a Toolbar, if you want to see and use that button. Sync should work fine from the Tools menu or from the orange Firefox button. Do those menu items still show Set Up Sync..? If so, then you need to setup Sync.

Your User Name (account name), Password, and Sync Key should all be viewable in Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords.
