http://search.avg.com hijacks browser, won't go away.
Never mind. Ripped it out in About:config. AVG addons can be disabled but not uninstalled in Firefox addons. AVG's unsistall disables but doesn't really uninstall the software. I've spent 4 hours on a search and destroy mission ripping everything with avg in it out. FF start page goes to Google until a search term is entered and then it goes straight to AVG's search. Reset about:config to google to no avail. No button to reset the default search engine in tools-options or even web developer toolbar. Have FF set up just the way I like it with google's annoying and logjam features disabled. Really don't want to start all over. Took a month to learn how to get it this way. Please help me get rid of AVG's browser hijacker.

Figurede it out. 1. disable AVG addons. 2. Start, control panel uninstall-disables AVG. 3. Start, Search AVG, delete all files. 4. open ff, about:config, reset Keyword URL (Google-Yahoo-bing, copy from
online answers-htt://?.google.com.???/???/?? I don't know it's out there), search browser and reset as needed to eliminate AVG control of ff.
5. restart and adjust as necessary.
There may be some fragments left that I missed but I only found to files I couldn't delete. They were empty so it's not a problem.
