I am phasing in use of my new laptop from my old laptop; running Firefox on both. I want to copy all of my bookmarks only from my old laptop to my new laptop without deleting/loosing/overwriting bookmarks already set on my new laptop. Your help is appreciated.

Bookmarks > Organize / Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Export HTML... - to a USB stick
then
Bookmarks > Organize / Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... - from file on that USB stick

Bookmarks in HTML format are appended to the existing bookmarks in the Firefox installation where they being imported.
