I upgraded to Firefox 8 three days ago. Today, I opened Firefox and clicked on "bookmarks". All of the folders I created to sort my bookmarks were gone. The only bookmarks I have left are those that were in the "unsorted bookmarks" folder. I tried the "restore" command (Show All Bookmarks>Import and Backup> Restore>) but it didn't work; I clicked on each date shown, but my bookmarks and my folders did not come back. Now what? My bookmark folders were all under "Bookmark Menu", if that helps. Thanks!!

For me it was the "browser virtalization" of zone alarm, I disabled it, deleted the places.sqlite in the mozilla appdata folder to create a new profile and everything comes back to normal.
