Check a setting: Firefox button > Options > Options (or Tools > Options) > Privacy, check "Remember download history"

I you want to keep download history, do not clear in when using Clear Recent History or when automatically clearing history when Firefox closes

Consider upgrading Firefox to the current version 10.0.1. Your version is 8.0.

You can get the incremental update by doing the following in Firefox: Help > About Firefox > Check for updates

You can download the full installer, SAVE it to your desktop, exit Firefox (Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit), then click/double-click the installer you just downloaded to update the version installed on your hard drive. This assumes that you only have one version installed in the default location on your hard drive and have not performed a "Custom" installation to another location on your hard drive.
