when pressing the home button it changes the page I am on and adds another tab

When I press my homepage button which is set to Google not only does the tab I am working on change but a new tab opens also to home page, I have tried looking through tools but anything I do does not seem to make a difference can anyone advise

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
