My bookmarks are appearing twice. If I delete one from one list, it disappears from both lists. How to I get rid of one list?

If it's a clue, the two lists are separated by a grey dividing line that I can delete, and bookmarking a current page adds it to the bottom of the lower list only.

Are you using Firefox Sync?

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
