I don't know how to close a tab without the x in the upper corner. The support page stated I should right click on the tab for the close button but it is not highlighted in my drop down menu.

Chosen solution

I couldn't open the about:config page so I couldn't do as you suggested.

Is this the only tab that is currently open?

Set the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.

What happens if you type or paste about:config in the location bar?

I got it! Thanks. Only now my home page disappears when I close out the last tab. I guess that's part of the solution.
