We have over 600 emails in trash. To delete one at a time is virtually too time consuming. How do you get rid of them quickly and permanently?

Right click the trash folder and select Empty trash.

Make sure you Compact your folders regularly too. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
