I tried to get into Firefox today and it said it was doing an update and Firefox would start in a minute. It did, but I was unable to access any webpage including mozilla.org. I thought I was having an internet connection problem, but I could ping those same sites, reach them with IE (which I HATE) and my Vonage (VOIP) phone was working with no problem. I tried rebooting and shutting down, finally tried to reinstall FF. It say downloading, then stops and says download interrupted. There is a resume button, but it doesn't resume. Finally, I decided to uninstall FF and tried the install again. Same result. Now I don't have FF at all. I can use IE, but it's a hassle just because it's IE. I even tried installing FF 29.1 with the same result.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

Thank you! It did solve my latest problem ie unable to install FireFox. However, Firefox STILL can't connect to any website! I get the error "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ...." I KNOW I'm connected to the web, because I can ping any of the websites that Firefox can't access, IE (Which I hate) can access them and my Vonage VOIP phone is working fine. This is the reason I uninstalled FF in the first place. So this is a brand new install with the very same problem. I can't use FF Health report because it can't connect to fhr.cdn.mozilla.net. It simply will not connect to anything. Any ideas? I'm getting desperate here!
