in my search engine list, suddenly just recent for whatever reason, the yahoo engine is there, and theres 2 of them listed....i always go to manage search engines and REMOVE those--dont want anything to do with yahoo....but anyway, after i remove them, i select my engine i want to use....it stays there until i close firefox and then a message pops up saying my default search engines have changed........and everytime i open firefox, there they are--the yahoo engines.. how do i PERMANENTLY get rid of them? im using version 31.0 by the way

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
