When visiting some websites (e.g., Ancestry.com) a "yahoo analytics" process is executed which fowls up the web page I'm visiting. I can eliminate the problem by running Firefox in "Safe Mode", but there are other extensions and add-ons that I want to run. I can't find any "yahoo" related extension or add-on to disable in the Tools menu. How do I get rid of this menace (permanently)?

You may be able to find the dns names and try blocking them with an add on, but sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
