When I load websites I don't see adds. This is most apparent on these sorts of sites (e.g. http://smashboards.com/ ) where I see a banner saying I have an ad-block enabled instead of seeing an advert. I do not have ad-block extensions. I have tried disabling all my extensions but this cause no change. I tried enabling tracking and allowing pop-ups but this also had no effect. I want ads to appear because I want to support the sites I visit.

Hello,

If you don't have any add-ons that block them, then an external program may be doing it for you. Are you running any antivirus software with the capability of blocking unsafe connections?

I've got Spybot and AVG running. Tried disabling both and de-immunizing but that had no effect.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
