After a few minutes/seconds- after a few commands, Thunderbird locks up. After checking folders, trasn and Sent were very large- 800,000 in sent folder and many are duplicated 1000 times. I can't delete before it locks up. Expect it is locking up Tbird from functioning. safe mode does not help.

have you tried compacting your folders?

Yes and compacting did not stop the lock up. We tried to delete the sent file emails but they seem to keep dulicating again.

I tried compacting again and let it run until it gave me a message: "The folder 'Sent' cannot be compacted because another operation is in progress. Please try again later."

There is something poisoning this process and causing this to lockup. I have swept for viruses but nothing shows.
