I thought I had the freaking updates to Firefox shut down but all of a sudden I have "Restart Firefox to update" message. I do not want this update so how do I get rid of it? I will not be shutting down Firefox until I can get rid of this unwanted update. I need this information ASAP since not shutting down Firefox means I cannot turn off my computer either.

You would have to delete the updates\0 folder and possibly the updated folder if Firefox already has prepared this folder to apply the update on the next start.

Software Update not working properly:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
(%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)

Hello WildChild! Once you download it you can't undo it. Why do you not want the update. Firefox updates to better the users (Us). If you would like I can look into this but could you please attach a picture? Thanks! Connor

Connor,

A picture of what? The update I did NOT download, it did it all by it's own little self. Of the options/Advanced/Update page where the only thing marked is "Never check for updates" but it did it anyway?

I do not want the updates because every single time that Firefox has updated lately I end up having to uninstall and reinstall my browser because it malfunctions. It's a good thing I back up my bookmarks every night or I would have lost all of them every update. I do lose all my passwords every update. Good thing I have them all backed up as well. I have 34.0.5 and from what you say it looks like I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling that again.

Hi wildchild1954,

Sorry you have been having problems.

It seems you used the workaround suggested by cor-el A likely cause of this problem with an unexpected update is clicking on the about Firefox option. That initiates an update.

TIP If you wish to check your Firefox version without initiating an update key into the location bar about:support that opens a troubleshooting page that lists the version without updating.

Backing up bookmarks, and possibly also the profile may be prudent. Having said that you should not lose bookmarks on every update. if that is happening it is a fault and you may wish to post a separate question on that.
