firefox 36.0.4 windows 7 64 bit does not work
After update firefox will not open although the process shows up in task manager. On a windows 7 64 bit computer. Tried a few of your suggestions to debug and get working again. I'm not going to do anymore troubleshooting or work or research on this. It is broken broken broken. I did have the latest portable version up and running for a while but after the latest attempt to install the desktop version (after uninstall, deleting old x86 program file folders, rebooting, etc.), the portable version won't launch either. Like I said I'm not going to make any more effort on this. Just wanted to let Mozilla know 36.0.4 it is broken on windows 7 64 bit. This is not how I want to spend my time. Weeks of research to no avail etc etc.

Tried safe mode with networking. Firefox launched normally. Booted back into windows 7 normally. Firefox would not launch. Disabled clamwin virus scanner (exited in system tray). Firefox launched normally. Alright! Now I did have fireclam set to scan downloads in firefox previously. Not sure how that impacts. But I removed fireclam after just for good measure. Thanks.

I will look into this.
Hi strangerland, don't give up hope -- I'm using Firefox 36.0.4 on Windows 7 right now.
That said, I understand troubleshooting fatigue and when you find time to think about Firefox again, and have the opportunity to shut down and restart Windows, you might try testing in Windows Safe Mode with Networking, a mode that blocks some external programs that can interfere with Firefox.
