A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

Script: chrome://browser/content/places/editBookmarkOverlay.js:909

I also waited 4 hours and just made the script click continue or ignore.

Could you describe the situation a bit more... Are you creating a backup file, or restoring a backup file, or uploading a backup file somewhere, or opening a backup file in a Firefox tab??

If you are restoring a backup -- which will wipe and replace the bookmarks you have now -- how large is the file?

Sure hes somethings ive done. Its a json file 3.66 file

I go into book mark manager import and backup Restore with a json file and Import a html bookmark file I get this error

Nothing seems to ever come from it 4 hours waiting having it remember continue.

Latest think i did was import my bookmark.html into chrome It worked fine took only a minute or so. The Went into import and restore firefox. Import data from another browser got a scripting error Probably the same one.

I also tried to rename a json file into what ever that name of sql file was but had no success.

Brand new install firefox.

The backup JSON file is 3.66 megabytes? That's pretty large, but based on past posts, Firefox usually can ingest a large bookmark backup eventually.

It's puzzling that the script error relates to the edit bookmarks dialog. Why would that be involved in restoring a backup???

In case Firefox's program files got damaged somehow, can you try this:

Clean Reinstall

We use this name, but it's not about removing your settings, it's about making sure the program files are clean. As described below, this process does not disturb your existing settings. Do NOT uninstall Firefox, that's not needed.

(1) Download a fresh installer for Firefox 37.0.1 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)

(2) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).

(3) Rename the program folder

(64-bit Windows folder names)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

(32-bit Windows folder names)

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

(4) Run the installer you downloaded in #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

Any improvement?

Note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:

  • \OldFirefox\Plugins
  • \OldFirefox\browser\plugins

Still not working. This error looks to be different A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

Script: chrome://browser/content/places/editBookmarkOverlay.js:1034

Whats the instructions to copy over the bookmark file. I think it was a sql file??

You would need the places.sqlite file to get the bookmarks and the history if there are problems with restoring a JSON backup. Does the file name of the JSON backup include an item count?

  • bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.json

Yes bookmarks-2015-04-13_68426_DujaDdVb5uS53Lo06vOdWw==.jsonlz4

Can i just rename that file to places.sqlite

more options

I have the files. The html file uploaded fine in chrome in under a minute. Firefox is giving me script errors everytime.

No, a jsonlz4 file is a compressed JSON backup and can only be restored in the Bookmarks Manager (Library). The places.sqlite file is a SQLite database file. The file name that you posted shows that there are 68426 bookmarks items (bookmarks, folders, separators, etc.) in the backup. The file is compressed, so the uncompressed size can be 3 to 5 times as high.

You would need an HTML backup or the real places.sqlite file if you keep having problems with restoring the JSONLZ4 backup.
