Adobe Flash Update Problems
I am continually getting popups saying that "firefox has prevented the outdated plugin adobe flash from opening" but I can't seem to update the plugin.
I have tried going through firefox to the website https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ but all I get is a spinning wheel. I have tried erasing my cookies and refreshing firefox to fix this problem, but I still get the spinning wheel so I can't update my plugins through the firefox website.
Next, I went and downloaded the update directly from Adobe, but when I try to install I get an error message saying "your microsoft internet explorer browser includes the latest version of the adobe flash player" and it won't let me finish installation. I have verified that firefox is my default browser, but I still get the error message.
I have looked through lots of threads on this help site, and nobody seems to have both problems. Either they can update through Mozilla website after refreshing Firefox, or they have the problem fixed when updating through Adobe.
I'm running Windows 8. Thanks

It sounds like you were trying to install the ActiveX version which is only for IE and not the plugin based version for browsers like Firefox/SeaMonkey.
Plugins like Flash, Java, Shockwave etc are installed on system and not in Firefox and Firefox makes use of those Plugins.
