I'm not sure this is a pure Firefox issue. Have you tried switching around among the regular Windows themes to see whether any of them restore the default menu colors?

Occasionally there are differences between built-in themes and accessory themes that have strange effects. I can't find the thread now, but if I recall correctly, a few Windows 8.1 users downloaded some themes from Microsoft.com that had a settings different from regular themes that caused problems in Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

I tried everything in your post, but to no avail.

As i said this problem is most likely a result of something changed from the skin pack i tried to install.

Firefox was fine before, weird after, A direct cause and effect.

I just need to know where to fix this invisible text thing on my computer. And its a bit paradoxical i know, asking for help with firefox, from firefox support when the problem is from the computer probably and not the browser itself,i just thought maybe someone here could help me fix it.

By the way no other browsers are affected. Only Firefox.

Disable skinpack. Is the problem gone? Check with their support.

Not only did I disable the skin pack,I completely removed it and restored my system to a time before it was installed. Only problem is that because of Avast I think, there are aspects of the skin pack still lingering that I do not know how to get rid of.

Noome knows the settings changed responsible for that specific menus text?

Hi, now might be a good time to try the Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) which can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.
