How do I remove an icon from the bookmarks in my toolbar?
When I refreshed Firefox by resetting it to the default, my bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar re-appeared with icons. I had removed them previously to shorten the space each bookmark took up in the toolbar. Now all my toolbar bookmarks do not fit on the toolbar. I want to go back and remove the icons, but none of the customizations, properties, or options have a way of doing it.

This can be done, via the Delete Bookmark Icons addon for Firefox.

What if I want all the icons and none of the words, in the Bookmarks Toolbar? Can i do that? Thanks! -Sid
Right click on the particular bookmark on the toolbar, then click on Properties. You can abbreviate the Name right down to nothing. You can also put similar bookmarks into Folders with appropriate names on the Bookmarks Toolbar. Again, right clicking on the Bar will offer New Folder.
Not everyone seems to know that the overflow of bookmarks goes down the right side of the page, accessed via the chevrons(double arrowhead) at the end of the toolbar.
Note that you can use code in userChrome.css to hide either name or icon of bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once in userChrome.css */ /* use one of these to hide the icons or the label text */ #PlacesToolbarItems > .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon {display:none!important} #PlacesToolbarItems > .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-text {display:none!important}
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.
